Speedmaster Strap on a MoonSwatch (and Vice Versa): What Really Fits
It is one of the most common questions among enthusiasts: the MoonSwatch and the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch look like twins, so are their straps interchangeable? The short answer is yes, halfway. The lugs share the same width, but the shape of the strap ends changes the look and, in one direction, the fit. Here is what works and what to avoid, case by case.
The shared measurement: 20 mm
The MoonSwatch has a 42 mm Bioceramic case and 20 mm lugs. The Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional also has a 42 mm case and, according to retailer and database listings, 20 mm lugs (check the spec sheet of your exact reference, as several Moonwatch versions exist). The same rule applies to spring bars: you need standard 20 mm spring bars, like the ones included with WatchCollab straps together with a changing tool.
Equal width is only half the story. The other half is the shape of the strap end.
Straight ends vs curved ends
Straight ends
This is the end shape of classic leather, NATO, canvas and universal rubber straps: a flat edge that sits between the lugs. On a Speedmaster it looks clean, since the case is designed for it. On a MoonSwatch it fits securely, but a small gap may remain between case and strap, depending on lug curvature and strap thickness.

Curved ends
Curved ends follow the case shape. On the MoonSwatch they close the gap completely, which is why WatchCollab straps for the MoonSwatch are shaped to the Bioceramic case. Mounted on a Speedmaster, though, the same strap does not sit well: the case geometry differs, so the strap stands off or sits unevenly. If you care about a clean look, it is the wrong choice.
What fits what
- Speedmaster strap (leather, NATO, canvas) on the MoonSwatch: yes, the width matches. It often works well, with a possible small gap at the sides.
- Curved-end MoonSwatch strap on the Speedmaster: better not, for the reasons above.
- Straight-end MoonSwatch strap on the Speedmaster: yes, it works like any 20 mm strap.
- Speedmaster steel bracelet on the MoonSwatch: avoid it; Omega bracelets use case-specific end pieces and are not meant for other watches.

Spring bars: an underrated detail
Both watches use standard spring bars, but the holes in the lugs are small enough to call for a good-quality bar. If you swap straps often, choose bars with quick-release tabs, and always use a proper tool so you do not mark the lugs. Our straps include bars and a tool, but if you mount a strap you already own, check that the bars are the right length.
What to buy for each case
You own a MoonSwatch
For a factory look, choose curved ends: you will find everything among our straps for Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch, in FKM rubber, leather, canvas, NATO and steel. If you already have 20 mm straps in a drawer, try them: a straight-end NATO or leather gives a more vintage feel, and some people like it for exactly that reason.
You own a Speedmaster
Stay with straight-end 20 mm straps: leather, NATO, canvas or universal rubber. It is the most coherent choice for the case and the watch's character. If you like MoonSwatch colours and textures, always check the end shape before ordering.
You own both
The most convenient case: a few straight-end 20 mm straps work on both, and one or two curved straps stay with the MoonSwatch. To match colour to your watch's mission, start from the straps for MoonSwatch by model page.
WatchCollab is an independent brand, not affiliated with Swatch Group or Omega. The names MoonSwatch, Omega x Swatch and Speedmaster only indicate the watch our straps are compatible with.
FAQ
Does a 20 mm Speedmaster strap fit the MoonSwatch?
Yes, the lug width is the same. With straight ends, a small gap may remain between case and strap.
Can I put a MoonSwatch strap on the Speedmaster?
Only if it has straight ends. Curved ends are shaped for the Bioceramic case and do not sit well on a Speedmaster.
Do I need special spring bars?
No, standard 20 mm bars are enough. WatchCollab straps include them, along with a changing tool.
