MoonSwatch Straps: Size, Material and Compatibility Guide (20 mm)
Choosing a strap for the MoonSwatch looks simple until the wrong one arrives. This guide covers the measurements that matter, the materials and when to use each, and the most common mistakes.
Key MoonSwatch measurements
- Lug width: 20 mm. This decides compatibility.
- Bioceramic case: 42 mm.
- Attachment: standard spring bars.
If a strap is 20 mm and made for this watch, it will fit. Fitting is not the same as looking right, which is where end shape comes in.
Straight or curved ends
Straight ends rest on the spring bar and leave a gap against the case. On a compact round case like this, the gap shows. 20 mm curved ends follow the case outline so the strap starts flush. It looks cleaner and keeps grit out. If you have no strong preference, choose curved.

Materials and when to use each
FKM rubber
The most versatile option. It resists sweat, water, sun and sunscreen, and cleans with water. Great for summer, the beach, the gym or daily wear. See our rubber straps for the MoonSwatch.
Leather
A more classic look that pairs with dressier clothes. It dislikes water and constant sweat, so it suits office and evenings out, not the pool. Browse leather straps for the MoonSwatch.
NATO
A nylon strip that passes under the case. Cheap, comfortable, quick-drying and easy to swap daily. Because it runs behind the case, the watch sits slightly higher on the wrist.
Canvas
Casual, light and breathable. It stains easily and dries slowly, but looks great once it develops some wear.
Steel
A metal bracelet for a more technical look. It is heavier than the others and Bioceramic is light, so the feel changes a lot. Make sure the end links and bars fit tightly so no slack shows.
How to change the strap, step by step

- Rest the watch face down on a soft cloth.
- With a spring bar tool, push the bar inward from the strap side.
- Lift the old strap end out gently, without levering against the case.
- Seat one tip of the new bar in its lug hole, compress the other and click it in.
- Give the strap a light tug to confirm both tips are seated.
All our straps come with a tool and spring bars, so you need nothing else. Work over a table rather than a hard floor: a bar that flies off is easy to lose.
How to measure your wrist
Wrap a flexible tape around your wrist just behind the bone, without pulling tight. No tape? Use string and measure it against a ruler. Wrists around 15-16 cm usually suit shorter straps; from 18 cm up you will want standard or long length. For pin buckles, aim to land in the middle holes rather than the first or last. NATO and Velcro give more leeway.
Common mistakes
Buying 22 mm thinking of the Scuba Fifty Fathoms
Swatch's Scuba Fifty Fathoms does not share the MoonSwatch lug width. If a strap says 22 mm, it is not for this watch. Always check that the listing says 20 mm and names the MoonSwatch.
Ignoring the ends
Straight instead of curved: it fits, but the gap shows.
Changing straps without a tool
A small screwdriver is the quickest route to scratched lugs. Use a spring bar tool.
Not checking the material
"Rubber" is not a spec. Ask whether it is FKM, silicone or PVC.

FAQ
What strap width does the MoonSwatch need?
20 mm between lugs, with a 42 mm case.
Which material for daily wear?
FKM rubber: it handles sweat, water and sun and cleans in seconds.
Do 22 mm straps work?
No. 22 mm straps are for other models such as the Scuba Fifty Fathoms and do not fit the MoonSwatch properly.
